If you’re looking for an experienced hinterland wedding photographer Brisbane, we’d love to hear from you!

Here’s a recent wedding the Jeff Goodwin Photography team captured at Austinvilla Estate for Natasha & Jean.

From the stunning grounds, to the checkboard dancefloor and elegant bridal suite this venue was the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding.

Below we share why we were the first photographer choice for Natasha & Jean and what they thought of our photos – along with a selection of gorgeous shots from their wedding day and details about their vendors.

At Jeff Goodwin photography, we know that we’re responsible for capturing all the special moments of your day, so we like to be prepared.

As this was going to be our first time shooting at Austinvilla Estate – a hinterland venue on the Gold coast just 60 minutes from Brisbane – we made the trip out there before the big day to pick out some of our favourite photo spots and get familiar with the venue.

Natasha had found us through a Google search and organised to meet in person to make sure we’d get along. Our chemistry meeting clearly went well as she later revealed that they’d decided to work with us before they even left the parking lot!

Here’s what else Natasha had to say about working with us:

“I’ve had lots of comments that our photographers were very professional and that you could see that they knew what they were doing. They were present at every moment without being in the way.” “We got our photos back in less than 4 weeks, they were touched up beautifully and we had a huge range and variety of photos.” “I think Jeff and Terri are amazing and I’ve recommended them to everyone I’ve spoken too (even people not getting married!). Their service, value for money and professionalism is what makes them a cut above the rest!”

We asked Natasha to share her wedding planning details with us, as well as how her and Jean met.

How did you meet?

We first met at a youth group but we didn’t really know each other. As we are both South African, we had mutual family friends, but later met again at high school. We became friends as we played lacrosse together.

How did the proposal happen?

At that stage in our relationship, we were doing monthly date nights, and it was Jean’s turn to organise something. He went all out and organized a gondola boat ride on the Brisbane River. Flowers, chocolates, champagne and food – it was very well planned out!

What did you do for a hen’s night?

A few friends organised my hens night and we stayed in the city for one night. We hung out and had a good time just chilling, and followed it up the next morning with breakfast on the river. It was nice having both my mum and Jeans mum join us for the first part of the evening too.

And the buck’s night?

My dad and Jeans dad organised the bucks party and it was much wilder than my hens. They invited a few friends over and had a BBQ and drinks. The dads bought him a yard glass and made him a ball and chain that was secured to his waist – it was just shy of 20kgs. He needed to carry this around where ever he went, and by the next morning had a sore shoulder.

Who was the Hair + Makeup Artist?

Ellen Munro – she was fantastic. She was punctual, friendly and very good at her job.

Where did you get your wedding dress?

I got my dress at The Bridal Company and it took me a few tries to find the dress I liked. I ended up with a lace dress with an illusion neckline.

What did you do for Flowers?

I bought a few flower arrangements from the Brisbane Flower Market for the table flowers.
Similarly, for the bridal bouquet, I bought a bouquet of flowers that I liked from the market, and we wrapped them with ribbon.
My mum, a friend and I made the button holes – we used the roses from my garden and the fern leaves from my in-laws back yard.

Engagement ring:

Jean designed my engagement ring and had it made at Diamonds International. I knew he was going to propose when I Diamonds International on the credit card – ha!

Wedding ring:

We had our wedding rings custom made by a master jeweler – Bruce Rosewarne from the Sunshine Coast. We have known Bruce for ages and through lacrosse. He made two very special wedding bands. Jean’s ring is a white gold band with a yellow cross inlaid. Mine is a white gold infinity band with 7 diamonds – this coincides with Jeans lacrosse playing number (which was all Bruce’s idea!)

Where was the Ceremony & Reception?

We got married at the Austinvilla Estate in the Gold Coast hinterland – the venue was beautiful! The food was fabulous and the portion sizes huge – no one went hungry!
All our guest stayed the night and we had breakfast there the next morning.

Who was the celebrant?

We didn’t have a celebrant – or pastor married us, and we were thrilled that he was willing to drive all the way from the Eastside Community Church to the Gold Coast!

Tell us about where the cake was from?

Jean’s mum made our wedding cake and it was beautiful! She did such an amazing job. We had 3 cakes – a chocolate, vanilla and a coffee cake. We enjoyed the months leading up to the wedding as we got to taste all kinds of cakes and frosting and we always had a treat in the fridge!

What was your First Dance song?

This is Love – by For King and Country. We had some dance lessons before hand and practiced at home a few days before hand! Jean and his mum danced to “a Song for my Son” by Mikki Viereck and my dad and I danced to “Fathers and daughters” by Michael Bolton. Getting dance lessons with the parents were great- as they out lasted quite a few of our friends on the dance floor!
